I am puzzled by this composition;

  1. Why was it shot like this?
  2. Does it make you feel uncomfortable?
  3. Is it ethical? (Can you tell just by looking at the image?)
  4. If you are / were a teacher would you use it in the classroom? (How?)
  5. Do I sound like Ted Wragg?

Anyway the photo is rosita Originally uploaded by schaaflicht.

I think she is lying on the ground and is doing a project on big and small.
It doesn't feel intrusive to me but Ithink she is very absorbed in what she is doing and doesn't notice the camera.

1. To challenge your perception of horizontal / vertical.
2. no
3. yes apart for Muslims (representation of humans=naughty)
4. with consent of the parents of the child / local Muslim community / NSPCC / the child herself - actually getting all that would be a real hassle so No.
5. A bit. I followed the link and was sad to find out that he died last year. He gave a talk on teaching at a graduate recruitment fair I once went to and was so inspirational that he helped make up my mind to do a PGCE - which was great. Shame he wasn't around in my first year of teaching. Good old Ted.

Guess it gave me vertigo and made me feel a bit giddy but I love the playing with orientation and I guess it may be the girl's own drawing so no ethical delimma there (Ethical Reviewer grade B).
