getting all horticultural

These are the babychicks:

These are the radishes:

baby-radishsprouts

These are the brocolli sprouts:
Baby brocolli seed sprouts

Why?

Because they are high protein, high fibre and Darling Daughter is trying a RAW FOOD DIET. Maybe she is right that healing enzymes are killed when we cook stuff.
But whatever the fact of it, I think that if you have been ill for a long time like she has, it is damnably marvellously fab that to still be finding the energy to try new ideas and FIGHT BACK.

We have an UNCOOK BOOK.

And we have bought a multilayered bean sprouter.

I spend all my time trying to think of what to give her to eat. These are some ideas:

Guacomole
Salads of every kind
stuff wrapped in vine leaves
Hummous made with chick pea sprouts and tahini
cereals soaked in water - such as buckwheat
Lots if different salad dressings
A million types of bean sprouts used in different ways
Fresh fruits
Dried fruits
Nuts
seeds

Anymore ideas? (Must be food.)

No more big ideas, but a few salad suggestions. Apples and mushrooms and broccoli are all really nice raw in salads, if you haven't used them already.

Btw, i finally have a photo on my blog! Thanks again and do you know how I can get a photo on my profile? It seems to want a URL and won't let me browse on my computer.

All I know about sprouting beans is rinse rinse and rinse again. I can't remember why. And when they are sprouted, put them in the fridge in a foodbag. Good luck!

Ummm... when I saw "babychick" I was thinking that they were eggs in the process of hatching and that the srpouty things were the baby chicken's legs starting to come out...

Thanks for the tips everyone. I will take heed of the rinse rinse rinse advice. I will be adding brocolli (sp??)and apples to the salads thanks (but not mushrooms - she picks these out.)
AS for he url, the bad news is that you need the photo on the web to get an url SarahofSheffield. But the good news is, that is easy to do. I'll e mail you.
No!! DrKate has NOT mentioned Sydney to me ... I will ask her the slydog!!

I have just started juicing and I must say it is wonderful and I could get a bit evangelical about it.

So you could use your juicer (buy the best one you can) that way you can juice your veggies too!

You can start with a basic crapple juice i.e. carrots and apples which is basically always the base, then add what ever you want, so a simple juice is crapple base, half a cucumber and a couple of sticks of celery.

Or today for breakfast I had crapple, grapefruit (peel but leave the pith on) and ginger (about an inch)

Most green veggies can be juiced but you need the crapple sweet base. So stuff like spinach, broccoli, parsley these are all quite strong so you need to add them to the base and only in smallish doses

Last night we had pineapple, orange, apple and lemon it was gourgous.

Thinks like lemon and limes, melons, organic pineapples you don't even have to peel just chop and juice

Even with the base items i.e. carrots, apples etc there is no need to peel because if you have a good juicer all the nitrates etc stay with fiber in the filter and you can just dump it in your garden as fertilizer.

All the main goodness for example is just under the skin of carrots etc so peeling them looses this, the recommendation is just to top and tail un-organic carrots.

Then if you have a blender you can add the fruit juice, usually to bananas or avocados, almonds and most soft fruit/berries etc etc to make fruity smoothies

Buy this book: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0007156790/203-0004119-6308737

Good luck.
