Visiting

a colleague yesterday, I was struck by how an ugly-looking buildings from the outside can provide such a good view from the inside.

We could see for miles out of the window on such a fine day.

I also gained a perspective of what it was like to be Chris looking out of the window. We could mainly see her foot between the two gorgeous flower arrangements. Quite a dream composition really.

Awe inspiring.

The paper that Guy and I put into the NRC for November is called 'Inside Out' in fact so I agree with all you say in this respect. It will talk a bit about the risks bloggers take in showing and telling, etc.

Yes I do feel there is a lot of diversity at our place; sometimes I like it but at other times I get cross with what people are saying and researching.

I think our Literacy Rsearch cente nowadays sees Literacy as a much broader field than it used to, and at first I was not in that group as my work was not considered to be literacy. At that time I focused on Language and this was not counted as in the frame. However now I think it would be, but my work has also broadened out much more and I do use the term Literacy, whereas I would not have touched it before.

I was once criticised by a colleague for keeping kids' videos on my bookshelf at home, when they should have had rows of books on them aparently. That person now would never dream of seeing digital stuff as 'bad' or distracting from written texts; I guess we are all moving all the time.

Sorry I have droned on. Will go now ..
